RE: Linux Server for DDAR
Interestingly the Empeg guys installed 65 of these in the Ministry of Sound
hotel in ibiza. One win2000 box handles the whole lot.
However I suspect they are refering to streamed mp3 when they talk about
internet radio. You should note that this is buffered and hence always
ends
up with a second or two difference on the clients. I am using something
called shoutcast (a linux implementation) from the linux box to other boxes
round the flat but they are always out of sync.
Furthermore the current software on the ddar has limited functionality.
Theoretically if you follow the info on the mock.com site you could write
your own inetd implementation and use a homebrew mp3 player on the device.
If you have the time and know-how this could do what you need. I have sent
a further email to the empeg guys asking for further info on this software
upgrade and when it is likely to be available.
Thanks
kieran

I have only one DDAR, but load in the system is so small I would not think
there would be a problem. When you get the shipment you could try 55 on at
the same time and do a review !!! ;-)
