If anyone has the current Maplins catalogue then on page 508 there are two
types (ignoring the "Ultra" series) of Duracell batteries listed.
The first
is the standard "copper coloured top" Duracell that we all know
and love and
the second is the Duracell "ProCell" series.
The ProCell batteries are commented with "Please note that since these
cells
are intended for industrial use they are only available by mail order for
trade customers".
Now ... does anyone know why these are not being sold to non-trade customer
accounts? What makes them so special that they can't be sold to the
"public"?
The reason I ask is that I'm looking to make up a high capacity power pack
for a very current hungry digital camera and their D size alkaline cells
are
rated at 18,000mAh as compared with a typical 1,600mAh for a rechargeable
AA
set. Of course they're not rechargeable but with ten times the battery life
then I'm happy to accept that the batteries are thrown away if it means an
uninterrupted day of shooting!
