I have the speedway card. It is actually a rebadged Fritz card so is
compatible with Linux as well no matter what BT say.
IME, external TAs are generally slower than the internal. I don't recall
the
exact results since it is a while since I did the tests. External TAs also
seemed to have an annoying habit of locking up occasionally and requiring
reset. Never had a problem with internal.
The Speedway(Fritz) is actually quite a good internal card so if you can
get
the cable (doesn't use a serial cable as such, it just has a cable to link
to the HH digital line socket). You should be able to source/build a
suitable cable quite easily.
As for sharing it. I use Windows ICS and it has served me well. I have 5
PCs
running off one "server" PC with the card installed. I missed out
on the
epods so can't comment on how easy it is to use LAN routing for shared
internet access but I would assume there is a reasonable solution.
