Adam,
The AD10 should ideally be fed from a switched spur fused at 13Amps.
If not, your AD10 is only fused by the 32A breaker in the dis-board.
Also, if the AD10 ever locks up or you want to change the address you can
switch the spur off for 30 seconds and then power it back up. Without the
fused spur as a local isolator you would have to turn off the entire ring
main, then go round resetting videos, clocks etc :-(
You can see how I fitted my AD10 on my immersion heater at
http://www.diyautomation.co.uk/tutorials/ad10.html

Surely putting both lives from the ring into the AD10's "L"
terminal has
the
same effect as a small spur? - Unless you mean fuse the spur separately
before the AD10s? - The X10 controlled socket will in effect be a spur, as
that comes directly from the AD10.
(I've draw a little picture of what I *think* it should look like at
http://zz9.dyndns.org/ad10.jpg -
Please anyone take a look and see if I'm
going to blow myself up! :-).
I appreciate this assistance! - This is the first time I've hard-wired any
X10 mains kit, so I'd like to get it right! :-)
Adam.
