There is a train of thought that three front channels gives the best imaging, Meridian I think.

Surely for the best stereo image you need DUAL speakers.

QUAD would be for that 4 channel stuff they tried in the seventies.

Front channels on Radio2 FM

Rear channels on Radio 3 FM

I know all about that stuff, got awarded the Maths prize at school in 1976 and chose "4 channel Stereo from source to Sound" as my book of choice.    sad isnt it :-))

Sorry Phil, but I disagree.

Mark M and Tim have managed, at best, a "flame skirmish". More a flame "reciprocal expulsion of diplomats".

By the way, and to get things going:

- Meridian kit is overpriced, overhyped rubbish

- Linux Rules, and anyone who doesn't find it easy to configure must be an idiot

- Only Quad speakers give decent stereo imaging.

- The government should tax HA products at a special VAT rate of 30%, like all other luxuries...

Can I suggest:

"The second list is for the UK Home Automation Die Hards and masochists only! This can be a damn busy list at times (record is around 1000 messages per day, mostly from Phil and mainly about damn all to do with home automation!) but is full of interesting debate and info on HA and other completely unrelated topics (MP3, Home Cinema, DIY, General Computer Stuff, Getting purchases past SWMBO etc).  We pride ourselves on having one of the friendliest, most helpful lists around.  You won't get abuse for asking a "newbie" question and there aren't ANY flame wars here unlike certain newsgroups (unless you happen to see the names Tim Morris and Mark McCall on messages with the same subject header).  If the message volume is too high for you, you can still subscribe and have a digest email sent once a day or even turn off email all together and just read the articles you're interested in on the web.  If you're in the HA industry or have more than a casual interest in HA then subscribe to this list now! "

After another hike in list traffic I've just updated the mailing list page on the website to this....

Does this cover it or is there anything else I need to add?
