RE: Split aircon unit, info required

Unfortunately this is the experience that most people have with cheap AC
units as they are almost invariably of the single unit variety. These units
are more successfully used by turning them on in a room when it is cool
*BEFORE* it heats up. For example I was off work yesterday and put the AC
on
in Edwards room about 2pm ... the room stayed cool throughout the afternoon
and evening. On Saturday we'd been busy and didn't put it on until the
early
evening and it struggled to bring the temperature down to anything
comfortable.

Yesterday Edwards room stayed at about 20-21 deg whilst the rest of the
upstairs of the house hit 28-29 in the early evening. However it can only
do
this if he keeps his bedroom door closed ... if it's open - even by just a
few inches - you might as well not bother.

The split unit on the other hand basically doesn't seem to give a sh*t!
Kitchen door open, cooker going ... it takes it all on! Yesterday
afternoonthe living room was beautifully cool whilst going up the stairs
(which are open into the living room) was like walking into a sauna. You
want temperature differences? Hmmm ... it dropped the living room to 18 deg
C with whatever it was outside.
