Would be even easier on the newer digital meters with a pulsing LED

I cannot remember if it was HomeAutomator or Circit Celler did a
feature on this sort of thing, it was a homebuilt unit which clips
onto the glass of your meter and counts the revs. From memory it was
fairly simple
