Stuart,

no sneaky peeks yet im afraid.  just trying to work out the code at the
moment.  My project as you can probably guess is a whole range of disparate
code fragments that half manage to do a bit of the project.  I am trying to
focus on the data model at the moment and then add the fancy components at
a
later time.  I would hope if I can make it all work so that you can tour
the
house and by pointing at a device collect its status or clicking on a
device
will switch it on and off.  XML on the nvram chips detailing its location
can be overlayed on top of the vrml describing the layout of the
house/flat.
The NVRAM has to be updated by the controller because I cant afford the
expense of a TINI in each sensor unit but I want to have the controller
manage the updates atomically so that the system knows if the transaction
happened correctly.  Its also an added bonus as it might highlight a
problem
with the system.

gathered. It's the mechanism of recording the data onto the NVRAM that I
can't see...

I have a historical graph of data collected by my DS1820, it's stored ina a
Round Robin database and it's something I will be looking at when I
eventually get round to buying a TINI and extending the 1-wire net outside
of
my office :-)
