Of course if you don't mind making a mess (and I believe from what I've
read, LOTS OF MESS) you could cut the channel with an angle grinder. If
you
have lots to do, then you can hire a wall chaser to do the job. These have
a diamond bit/heads and dust extraction. Never tried one, but then again
I've tended to do a room at a time.
