Reminds of the days when my 386 at uni didnt quite have the gumption to run
X properly.  Ended up hacking together a little box of magic with a friend
so I could run SVGATextMode in 1152x900 on an old 19in monochrome sun
monitor.  vi in wide screen ;-)

I've actually had one of those for about a year now running Linux.

Works fine but never did complete my original goal of having it
displaying on my TV via the SCART - it worked fine under Windows98 but
never managed to figure out the frame buffer setting for PAL in Linux.
