I checked in before going to bed!

The doc is at:

http://www.remotecentral.com/files/dl.cgi?utilities/irformat.zip

Also in html at:

http://www.remotecentral.com/features/irdisp1.htm

The normal route of getting to it is:

http://www.remotecentral.com/files/udocs.htm

Once you've read this one, you'll actually understand the X10 one!

I've learned more about IR codes through fiddling with my Pronto than I
really need to. If you get stuck, feel free to ask.

You'll find that ProntoEdit 1.05 is a dog of an application, it was never
intended for public release. The original intention was for it to be used
by
dealers much in the same way as the Crestron software is.

The design philosophy seems to be very much, "Why let the user do
something
in one operation, when we can make him use five?". In reality that's
not
actually the case, as the designer of the application, and much of the
Pronto's internal software was very active on both the Remote Central and
ProntoEdit.com websites during the early days with the handle "A
Helpful
Person". He certainly lived up to his name, providing many discrete
on/off
codes in the early days before Barry cracked it!

On the subject of discrete on/off codes. Most Panasonic kit responds to
them
(even though they aren't on the original remote), and most Sony stuff.
Anything else and you are on your own! Finding them out can be a challenge,
but once you get a grip with deciphering codes life is somewhat easier. If
you do get into dissecting codes and want my spreadsheet for analysing
Panasonic codes (which use the weirdest coding scheme), I can always tidy
it
up.

Tim.
