I have emailed Neil off list because some of the new chips I am developing
with for KAT5 are surface mount only. He has given me pointers in the right
direction.
Through hole is preferable as they are much easier to work with. The
downside is drilling all the holes for a prototype board. Also some chips
now are ONLY manufactured in SMT.
