But to display on it you would need a Video signal.

I just happen to have bought some chips for doing On Screen Display :-)

Fair enough and great that you've seen them cheaper but again, doesn't this
give us a source for cheap colour, backlit LCD displays (remember the
prices
that people were quoting for 4 line by 20 character displays was more than
£80 IIRC!)
