Given it's a basement, I assume that it's water-sealed _outside_ the

If so, why not really plaster it, rather than dry lining.

I _don't_ like dry-lining aesthetically - I'd much prefer real plaster.

not _so_ hard to pick up, I'm told. It's the fancy effects that are
skilled=

not the basic "skim that wall" stuff.
