Tim,

just to clarify a bit:

Are you starting the copy from the same machine each time?

basically, there are four ways to do this:

Two machines:
Laptop        Server

you can use the laptop to copy a file *to* the server
The laptop to copy a file *from* the server

Or you can use the server to copy files to and from the laptop.

Can you/have you checked this? is it the direction of copy only that
affects
the speed?
