I've just checked the manual for my stage dimmers (Light Processor
Paradims), and they have the options of linear (I assume by time), and
square law (which is the conversion for power). I'm pretty sure that
this is all that most professional lighting dimmers offer -
manufacturers web sites for people like Avolites or Celco will probably
have more details. The square law certainly looks linear enough to my
eyes.
