Don't ask me for reasons ... all I know is that if I plug my HV's TW7223 in to a socket on one side of one of my bedrooms then my AV kit downstairs doesn't receive X10, if I plug it into a second socket less than 6ft away then the whole house is X10 aware!

Try getting an X10 signal strength meter from somewhere if you can ... I borrowed one and found that mains wiring really is bad at carrying a signal!

I can understand that Phil but why can I SEND but not RECEIVE? It seems really wierd. BTW this was possible before the kitchen was rewired...

Surrounding appliances can make a difference ... washing machines and dishwashers seem notorious for attenuating X10 signals.

I have four PCs and a pile of external HDs in my "computer room" (in all about 14 switched mode PSUs) and one half of that room is blind to X10.

I have a TouchLinc touchscreen in the kitchen which CAN X10 through the TW7223. It can't receive the 'Messages' which are basically X10 signals. If I plug it in beside the PC (where I download the software to it) then it can Recieve the messages. Why would it make a difference where it was situated to 'receive' messges only!!

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Michael
