VHS quality on the settings I'm using.

1.2 gig per half hour using the standard MJPEG codec that ShowShifter comes
with.

You can capture straight to newer codecs (DivX etc) if you have a better
CPU
(around 1 Ghz or above) which will result in MUCH smaller files.  The
latest
beta version (1.5) can automatically re-compress recording after they've
finished.  This allows slower machines like mine to produce MPEG4 files for
archive.  At present there seems to be a AV sync issue on re-compress
though.

SS supports Digiguide so it's a matter of a right mouse click to setup
timer
recording of your shows!  Also - A guy on the SS forums has released a
webserver for it so you can setup recordings over the internet or your
intranet.
