I'd run a CAT5 (or two) down into the back of the light switch if there's
room rather than install another box alongside with a blanking plate. Is
there any way of sinking conduit into the wall so that you can pull through
any additional cables at a later date?

Unfortunately it's not LA who are discontinuing the curtain motors but the
manufacturers, Swish. I have six of their motor and rail sets and they are
superb! Run a CAT5 for control and something like 3A mains flex for power
(then this can carry either enough mains for a curtain motor or - as in the
case of the swish rails - 24v.)

As many as SWMBO lets you get away with? You can never have enough mains
sockets...
