Ian,

I agree and we get the same thing on the appliances as well but, if I spent
£X on getting the software to diagnose a board, then spent £Y on the labour
to find the fault in 7/10 cases it would be cheaper just to replace the
board in the first place, hence we just swap them out! It's all a cost
thing, blame the Chinese for making the stuff so cheaply and the bean
counters whose fault it *always* is :)

And 9 times out of 10 the failure on the PCB is a dry joint! These PCBs
don't
tend to be that complex and it annoys me that they get junked as often as
they
do.
