All dimmers will buzz to some extent.
It is caused by the RF Choke in the output of the dimmer. As the mains
current is pulsed on the surge of current causes the induced magnetic field
to slightly move the coils of wire that make up the choke. Some choke
manufacturers dip the chokes in varnish to effectively glue the windings
together and prevent the movement that causes the buzzing.
It will be worse at 50% brightness because you are applying the current
when
the mains cycle is at its peak.
It is nothing to worry about, it is just bloody annoying. Can you enclose
the Consumer Unit in a cupboard to lessen the noise. If already enclosed,
can you line the cupboard with Fibreglass or other sound dedening material.

Subject: [ukha_d] LD10 and "buzzing" fuse at the consumer unit
Unfortunately due to the nightmare methods employed by the builders
of my house to various infrastructure the main consumer unit is in
the living room.
Since installing the LD10s I have noticed that there is a buzz from
the fuse for the lighting circuit at the main consumer unit.
Is this normal? If so, is there a way to "fix" it? If not, is
this
buzzing indicative of any potential future problem?
Mark.
