Hi guys and gals

I received this from Habitek last week re. the release of the new HAL2000.

<quote>
The official launch of the HAL products will be later in June, however, we
are taking orders for the new version of HAL2000 now, and will be shipping
product Monday next week along with the PCI HAL Voice Portal , that's a
modem to you and me, this will give use of all the telephony features of
HAL
(although we are still having a problem with caller ID in the UK.). The USB
external unit will be available later in the year. HALdeluxe and HALbasic
will also be available later in June.
<end quote> Of course the next week referred to is this week now.

My HAL + PCI modem should be arriving shortly and I plan to use it as a
glorified answerphone initially. This will mean making up a keypad and LED
display to interact with HAL so don't expect a review too soon. Wifey is
not
into talking to computers but she is not too bad with button pressing hence
the keypad etc. Another challenge will be passing data between my Meteor
caller ID unit and HAL. Once I have all this sorted there are plenty of
other ideas for it, just very little time.

Lots of fun though I am sure

Ian
