read the instructions and have a play. There is still some work to do
before
it is finished but its fun creating your own custom jukebox ;-)

It has limited functionality on the server you will be looking at as I cant
put MP3 files on there. The database is fully functional though. At home
the
PC's on my LAN can all access my Jukebox PC and retrieve the files from
mapped drives

W: Wurlitzer
S: Seeburg
R: Rockola
V: Video server for streamed video files.

When finished it will have Autoplay modes selecting songs from certain
dates, user created playlists, and true jukebox mode where each selection
is
added to a playlist and played in turn. Once played it would be removed
from
the list. This would not apply to normal playlists but for those a track
would be marked with last played time. Playlist would be selected ordered
by
"LastPlayed" time and to randomise the playback the next tune
would be a
random choice from the top 50% of the titles in the list. For a list with
100 tunes it would need a minimum of 50 other tracks to be played before a
song stood a chance of being repeated.

i.e. my aim is dedicated mp3 file server, though for cost reasons it'll be

general file server until I get richer :-)
with other PC's on LAN able to play from this server. I have not yet
deployed the rig yet but my experiments on 3 PC peer to peer
are all done.

I use a player/ripper called musicmatch jukebox. I think I got it from
MP3.com

The mp3 files are held on the server (obviously) which is called Wurlitzer
each client pc has to have the server drive mapped to it ( I map to drive
M:
for music)
when the mapping is done a music library is created on the client, you can
choose all or some of the files you created.
assuming the server is 24/7 and you choose reconnect to mapped drive on
boot
up for client, you've instant access to your music from any PC.

I haven't yet worked out what to do when files are added to the server, I
think each client library file will have to be updated.
