RE: MP3 Player

Likely to be either security or name resolution...

For the name resolution one, make sure that they're both in the same
WORKGROUP (nasty cludge, I know, and to do with the fact that workgroup
Browsing and name resolution are just a little bit too tightly coupled)

If this lets you see the shares, but you can't open them, then it's the
security one... Suggest you just open it up to an "everyone",
remembering
that there are multiple places you need to apply the security stuff in
Win2K, on adjacent tabs in the share "properties" dialog.

Subject: [ukha_d] MP3 Player

Like a lot of people on this list I have quite a large collection of MP3s.

I have been looking for a good, PC, based system that will let me play the
MP3s in various rooms (via a Laptop and 10M LAN connection)

I thought all my prayers had been answered with the Media Juke Box server
facility. I particularly like how they arrange playlists and how you can
combine (inclusively and exclusively) to produced other playlists. I can
combine my favs and my wifes and find, and play, the few songs we both
like.

I have not been able to get the server function working between my 'Study
PC' running win98 and my laptop using win 2K. I am not using DHCP just
static addresses.

Any suggestions for software would be greatly appreciated.

The ultimate aim is to have a central store of all MP3s with a player for
each room or area, ideally Web type GUI (or a nice application window) for
easy use.

Regards

Nigel
