Hi all,

Wildly off topic here, but I know that several of you are either
self-builders or real builders!

Looking for advice, or decent web sites on the following, please:

We're thinking of having a loft conversion, but before we start getting
quotes or calling builders in, I want to understand the costs and stages.

The intention is to turn the roof space into the master bedroom suite,
complete with:

- Bedroom
- His Dressing room
- Her Dressing room
- Bathroom

Is it possible to convert "a bit at a time", say with interim
stages giving:

- A storage area (accessed by a hatch) with clear headroom but just boards.
- A storage area (accessed by a hatch) with clear headroom and roof lights.
- A storage area (accessed by a hatch) with clear headroom, decent flooring
and lights.
- An open plan area, with stairs.
- A series of rooms with partition walls and doors, but no bathroom yet.
- The lot, including the bathroom.

The logic is that we would like to profile the work, and thus the cost, but
giving deliverable benefits at each stage, so if we run out of money (read
-
have a baby!) we can stop the expense flowing, but still have something
vaguely useful...

Regards,

Mark Harrison
