We have checked out Spamcop but decided that it is not appropriate for us.
Our servers handle many virtual domain names with lots of e-mail
addresses. Funnelling our entire e-mail traffic through Spamcop is not an
option.

We always report spams that get pass our filters to their originating ISPs
and do have successes in getting their accounts terminated. Unfortunately,
it is too easy to open new mail accounts nowadays so they are usually back
in action within hours. Furthermore, some spams are sent via open or badly
configured e-mail servers. There appears to be many of them in Japan and
Korea, judging by the originating TLD. Some of these don't even have abuse
and postmaster addresses, contrary to RFC (821, 2821, and 2505). There is
a website now listing these "RFC Ignorant" websites that one can
make a
check on (http://www.rfc-ignorant.org) before
accepting e-mails from them.

As a last resort, we add the really persistent spammers to our firewall so
they can't even connect to our e-mail servers.
