My initial order got bounced from the US site to the UK distributor,
and I then had to re-order from the UK dist's web site. Why couldn't
they pass the order direct? Maybe thats contributed to the delay.

Yes... and no. I spend a lot of time on the road with flaky-at-best
internet connections and consequently have a very hard time keeping
up with the e-mail backlog. This project is just the sort of thing I
love doing, but I'm worried that if I make a commitment I'll then not
be able to deliver. I want it to be a success, and I wouldn't want to
let you guys down.
