Re: UK X10 Appliance Module with Status reporting

Title: Re: [ukha_d] UK X10 Appliance Module with Status repor
Sorry - this should have been the "Easy Life" kits not the "Take Control" kits - hope I didn't mess anyone up.

As one who always laments the lack of features in UK X10 products I thought i'd mention - the RF transceiver module acts as a UK appliance module and includes 2 way status reporting - (you can interrogate it for its current state). If you want such a feature then go buy the HomeBase Take Control bundles - also includes a lamp module for £20. Great value of course - oh no not another HomeBase thread...

        Three points

        i)      The transceiver can only be addressed as unit number 1 but any of the 16 Housecodes - so you can have a max of 16 in one house. This makes them difficult t control from a device that has a preset Housecode eg the timers, switch controllers etc. But they are easy t control from a computer / HV based system. Anyone got a workaround t this ?

ii) You may want t disable the transceiver - it can certainly be made very insensitive by removing it's antenna. They are pretty deaf anyway.

iii) The units do not pro-actively send their state ie if you change the state from the switch on the front of the unit they don't send any X10 info.
