Dan,

AFAIK a mobo for a P2 cannot accept a P3 I seem t remember having t
upgrade the mobo when changing from P2 t P3. Could be wrong though my
memory is cr4p at best!

Memory, there is 66, 100, 133, 266 and RAMBUS! On a P2 it's most likely
t be a 66mhz front bus so that is the speed it will work at regardless
of what you put in, although RAMBUS is only used on P4's I think. Some
of the IT guru's in here probably know different :-) It should be okay
with a faster SDRAM but not a slower one than the BIOS says it will
accept, or at least it all has t run at the same speed. I have built
several machines with different clock speeds in various SDRAM's but they
d run at the lowest speed out of all the chips used.

HTH

Hi all

A couple of off topic (kind of PC questions)

I have a P2 266Mhgz machine - I want t upgrade the process in this,
can I put in a P3 chip? - can anyone recommend somewhere t buy new
processors from?

Also Memory wise it uses SDRAM - where can I find out what type I
need t use t add t this, there seems t be 2 main types, 100mhz
and 133mhz - will it make any difference if I use the wrong one!?

Thanks - as always there is a wealth of knowledge on this list, and
it seems rude t go elsewhere!

Regards

Daniel
