I don't know about the Panasonic, but the NEC 42MP2 emits huge amounts of IR.
The only way I can get my IR receiver to work is by placing it behind a chair on the opposite side of the room (makes remote control aiming a bit tricky!).  Even placing in under/behind the screen still gives problems.  The only thing I can think to solve it, is to place the receiver in some sort of tube with a tinted perspex cover, then place this directly under the screen - yet t try this though.

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of planning/installing a HA and I'll probably be posting lots of questions in the near future.
At the moment I'm working out what I need for my AV installation.  I've seen a few threads regarding Plasma screens affecting and interfering with IR receivers.  I'm looking at using a Panasonic Plasma screen and a Buffalo IR receiver in the same room.  This receiver will be the most important receiver in the house since all the AV equipment will be at Node 0, so I don't want t find I've got lots of problems when I've finished plastering!  If I place the IR receiver on the same wall directly beneath the screen do you think I'll get any interference?
The plasma screen has its own IR receiver - but I suspect that it will either operate on a 'safe' modulated frequency or (hopefully) relies on the fact that the IR pickup is recessed so it can't see the screen.

Simon
