Graham,

I have just extended HV from the tv room t my study, using cat5 (one of
the places I had managed t pre-run). I only left out pin 1, and everything
works fine (same with comfort).

Subject: [ukha_d] Extending serial link from PC t HV

I have recently moved my HomeVision t be nearer t my node 0 so that I can
patch the video in t my RF modulator. As a temporary measure I have
connect
the HV t the serial port of a PC that is near the node 0 and everything
works fine. However this is not my main PC and is not connected t a UPS,
neither is it connected t Comfort. So I want t extend the connection from
the HV t the main PC, preferably over CAT5 as there is plenty of that
about. Does HV use all wires in the serial connection, if not which does it
use and is it possible t simply map these t cables in CAT5 (if so which
ones should I use). Alternatively is there another cheap way of extending a
serial connection t about 10 metres.

Regards

Graham
