I could knock up an adaptor that would patch the mouse and keyboard over RJ45 but I dont know how well it would work over that distance. Line of sight is about 6-8 metres but by cable it is about 20 metres or more. Could give it a whirl though. Try it with a normal Keyboard/Mouse over that distance and if it works then buy an RF one.
 
For local control of the machine you can either use "Proxy" or a USB Keyboard & Mouse.

What are the other options then?  IR with repeaters doesn't appeal.

I recon I'll need around 6 t 8 metres through floors/walls.

The Logitech has a range of about 4m in free air at home here...
