On a slightly lighter note and hoping t clear
up a
misunderstanding, rather than cause an argument, I'd heard that the risk of
explosion was not the reason why phones are "banned" on forecourts, but
that
communication between phone and network interfered with correct operation
of the
meter in the pump. Or is that b****cks?

Yeh, and it is all typical c***p t keep someone in a
job..
When you start your car, there is a bloody great spark
generator
in the starter motor. None I know off are sealed and all use brushes.
And what about all the other switch contacts you might use before
moving off.

is dealing with is t do with handset batteries. If, as always seems t be
the case with my phone, the battery is slightly loose, then there is the
potential for a spark. Sparks + petrol fumes =
explosions.
Now, t be
fair, this has never happened on a European forecourt, but that was the
thinking.
