Yeh, and it is all typical c***p t keep someone in a job..
When you start your car, there is a bloody great spark generator in the
starter motor. None I know off are sealed and all use brushes.
And what about all the other switch contacts you might use before moving
off.

Regulations is dealing with is t do with handset batteries. If, as
always seems t be the case with my phone, the battery is slightly loose,
then there is the potential for a spark. Sparks + petrol fumes =
explosions.
Now, t be fair, this has never
happened on a European forecourt, but that was the
thinking.
