I love to say yes and tell you how to do it but I'm afraid I don't know my
way around the service menus on the VW10 ... I'll see if I can find out
from
Gordon but I reckon - like myself - he'd be reticent to point you at them
for two main reasons.

Firstly the service menus are a scarey place t be ... I believe that it is
even possible t nuke the bulb from the VW10's service menu as IIRC there
is
a menu option for adjusting the bulb voltage to get what Sony consider t
be
the optimum balance between light output and longevity.

Secondly (and I suppose this is a two pronged thing), the setting up that
Stereo Stereo do on the VW10s takes quite a long time and is usually
carried
out in the home anyway. (The furnishings and decor of a room affect the
perceived colour balance quite significantly.) This is why these guys don't
get int discounting wars so it's kinda their "edge" ... also, t
set the
greyscales and gammas correctly you *NEED* a good colour anayser which I
know is Gordons (and I believe cost him the best part of $15k) and I know
he
paid for himself to g through an ISF certification course in the US
recently so it's not a simple process.

To give you an idea ... I *KNEW* the colour balance settings on my CRT
projector were p*ssed and so I wasn't worried about trying to fix the
imbalance by eye. That was six months ago at least and it is most
definitely
still not right. I'm gonna get Gordon t make the trek down here and do my
projector and a friends at the same time and split his travelling costs -
however I still expect t pay him probably in the order of £600 for doing
the job.
