My Pronto does s mething similar if subject t  shock ie falls off the chair
arm or out of the grip of my one year old (who isn't allowed t  play, but
doesn't realise that).  SO FAR he hasn't thrown it!  Either immediately or
shortly afterwards it will just cease to operate as if there was no
battery.
It comes back via the initialising screen after a couple of minutes.
S metimes removing and re-inserting battery pack helps, sometimes returning
to dock helps, but sometimes you just have to wait.
