The portable units (I've got a 7000) are quite noisy considering that are
advertised as silent operation ! I don't think I could sleep with one in
the
same room. The three speed fan setting doesn't make much difference. I
could
probably put up with the noise i switched t  fan only operation but not
full
blown aircon.

Supposedly 48db for the split unit ... quiet enough t  sleep through.
