One small drawback with IRC as opposed t Instant Messaging:

IM services are exactly what they state and almost every PC running a
Win 9* platform has AOL or MSN built int it, IRC is more of an internet
die-hard format these days. Therefore IRC is not as accessible t new
users as IM services, IMO.

I would agree that for the project that IRC is the answer, for sure, but
for general chit-chat I just don't know!

Let's face it the fact is 95% of PC's out there are running on a Windows
platform, those users that are running another OS are usually very
computer literate and can adapt easily t alternatives on their chosen
OS.

Yes but that's my point .... if they have a prior inclination to be
involved then IRC is a valuable t ol, and remember I said the scripts
could be pasted in an email and sent to the list as well ..... so no one

has to miss out :-)

People on list can still comment on the conversations from IRC as they
have the script in theie email -- so no one is ruled out.
