I "positioned" an aircraft once t  have some sort of service and,
like you
do, got involved in the dismantling of the engine and was told in no
uncertain terms to be very careful with the exhaust pipe assembly due to
the
cost, and yes I was amazed when it was just a big expansion chamber and (4)
down pipes! I think it is all to do with the quality that goes into the
build/testing of aircraft parts after all it is quite useful to not have
them stop working when airborne!

Of course I might have been told a load of rubbish! would not surprise me
in
the aviation industry....

I assume you are now back? hope you had a good trip.
