Depends on the gearing that you use between the motor and the pulley
driving
the curtains. You'll need quite a lot of torque as you'll need a lot of
tension if you're driving them via a cord to stop the cord slipping ...
also
be aware that if you use fixed limit switches on the motor assembly then
any
slippage in the pulley system will cause the curtains to not close or open
correctly so perhaps look at using a couple of reed switches mounted to the
curtain rails themselves for sensing whether the curtains have in fact
reached the open or closed positions.
