Agreed Phil!

Mike and Li have done more for HA in the UK in the last couple of years
than
a lot of people realise. While they're undoubtedly both in it t make
money
(like the rest of us at work) in both cases HA is not their primary
business
and I would imagine they're quite glad it isn't.

The problem is that the HomeBase clearout was at below trade prices ... I
bet both Laser and Lets have noticed a drop off in the sales of X10 modules
to the group (sorry Li and Mike).

Homebase were just looking t move the stock out of the door and were
basically giving it away ... there's little awareness of what X10 can do
and
I find the usual example of "you can switch your coffee maker on
automatically in the morning" t be quite insulting and even
dangerous. If
you look and see what people have done with their X10 systems then it's
quite amazing but your average Joe in the street tends to shy away from
anything that seems technical.

Lower prices are well and good but if noone is making any money on what
they sell then we kill of the market that we want to save ... IMHO I
actually get a bit worried when I see Mike and Li dropping prices on kit
because we need these guys so that we can get the "toys" that we
crave. If
it wasn't for Li and Mike then where the hell would I get my SW10G X10
controllers for my electric projection screen? Where would I get my LD10's?
Not from Homebase that's for sure.

Li and Mike give a huge amount of support t this group and I have learned
a huge amount from Li in particular ... he's hand-held me through my first
real screw-ups and absolute mis-comprehensions as to what I could do and
what I needed t use to do what I wanted. He was a huge amount of help when
I was umm-ing and errr-ing about whether t buy a HomeVision. The market
will grow and it will grow slowly but we'll need the Mike's and Li's of the
business t bring the newbies into the fold until they find groups like
this
where they can ask questions of everyday users and let them get on with the
job of getting in more addicts.

Phil

Is it used less because it is expensive ?

The recent homebase clearance has shown it would sell in greater volume
at lower price.
