I bought a HV to replace a CM12 purely because HV is fast and you can
download your "schedule" into the device and use it stand-alone.

I previously used a CM12 with HomeSeer (a marvellous piece of software),
but
found the CM12 terribly slow to respond to X10 events.  The CM12 is limited
by its 1K of ram also.

I agree that the Homevision is expensive, but speed more than makes up for
it for me.
