Why
rule
out HomeVision
If you
send IR codes to HomeVision and hen get HomeVision to issue the relevant IR
codes to the units at least you know and HomeVision does the state of each
unit
Getting
HomeVision
to fire off IR can then be activated by X10/Serial/input changes/ and IR
from
Pronto
It is
then
very easy to write a VB programme to DDE to HomeVision so that you an have
every remote control available on your
desktop

Subject: [ukha_d] PC IR
emitters +
software
Hi all,
First time poster, I'm a bit nervous!
I'm looking for IR advice, specifically I'm intending to replace my two
Prontos with a Heath Robinson ePods, Windows 2000+ Terminal Server,
Wireless
LAN solution which I'll probably not have time to build!
My Pronto replaces about 15 remotes, and I've ruled out using my
Homevision
to do the IR. I've seen a lot of PC->IR solutions that use the
Parallel
port, but I'd prefer to use Serial (or something else that'll travel
long
distance), as I can't use PowerMid pyramids to relay the signal (long
story
involving controlling my neighbours TV!)
Anyone have any hardware and or software advice or testimonials?
NB I
was
planning on using the PC to send the IR, not the ePods.
Thanks,
- Phil
