I think the risk is that if you corrupt a file/miss a file you end
with an unbootable ePOD. Unlike a PC, there's no floppy drive to
stick a recovery disk into, so you end up with a dead ePOD if you get
it wrong. Sounds an unlikely eventuality, but scary nonetheless... It
sounds from the ePOD forum that if you do get into this situation all
is not quite lost, but it will required opening up your ePOD and
performing open heart surgery...
