That only works if you're controlling them using X10. Local control (such
as
a push button on an LD10) doesn't send an X10 signal so it's state is
unknown.
Without some sort of feedback loop (usually in the form of support for X10
status requests) there's no way for the controller to be absolutely sure of
the state.
