I have both iButtons and a fingerprint reader. The iButtons are installed and working reliably using HV as well as the supplied logic. I have to confess that I have never even plugged the reader in. It comes with a short lead and runs windows software. The power is taken from a keyboard cable plug in. I don't log into any of my machines at home and only bought it as I had some credit to use up. I think it was about £80 but that was a while ago. Its size is OK at about 2" by 1.5" by 1". Doesn't look very weatherproof though.

The is a review of the US iButton system on Marks site.

Has anyone come across any Fingerprint Readers or have any opinions on them for use as door entry systems.
The only ones I have seen so far tend to be on the large side, thus not really suitable for mounting on the front door frame.

If I cannot find a solution that looks pleasing and is relatively small, I will have to opt for my first other choice, iButtons.

Many thanks
