Whining Pronto

I have just become aware of my Pronto making a whining noise whenever the
backlight is on.

It's almost inaudible unless you hold it to your ear like a telephone.  I
hasten to add that I'm not in the habit of doing this, I just happened to
hear the noise when I activated the display earlier this evening.

Does anybody else have a Pronto that does this?  Is it likely that it's
always done it?  Is it indicative of a greater fault, or the onset of one?
Should I send it back to Mike?  How will I manage without it if I do :-( ?

Seriously, I need to know if this is a fault, or 'normal' behaviour.  BTW,
Battery pack is still almost fully charged (that was my first thought).
