I like this the way it is too ... I'm all in favour of getting more people
into the fold but going by email as we do at the moment is far more
convenient for me.

I must admit that I find it more convenient to receive email.  My other
choice is to use Deja (NNTP seems to be blocked here for some reason) which
can be cumbersome for NG browsing/reading, although invaluable for
searching!
