SmartLink Modem (Linux)

I've just received a SmartLink 5634PCV Surfrider modem that I ordered from
scan (it's the Linux-compatible modem that they often have on their today
only page).

Anyway, I'm having grief trying to set it up in Linux - of course there's
no
printed documentation and the one and only documentation file on the
drivers
CD is unreadable.

Has anyone got one of these things working under Linux? (My intention is to
use the modem in an old 486 as a router/firewall - so it's sort of Home
Automation!)

Cheers,

Rob.
