I would have to agree wholeheartedly, - not because I want to have to have
some kind of tag, but purely because I don't know of ANY other technology
which is able to identify individuals reliably and at reasonable cost. The
only one that looks promising is machine recognition via video/CCTV, as
this
is currently used by some law enforcement agencies, and even some local
authorities in London, but this is still years away from being within the
realms of a domestic environment (unless your name is Larry Ellison!).
There
are several ways (including implantation) to carry a tag about the body
without it being a burden (how many on this list wear a necklace, a
wristwatch, or an earring?)

Not me! - I would glady take an implant tomorrow if it were possible! - the
technology has been proven over many years on animals, and now thanks to
the
redoubtable Mr. Warwick on humans too... But for now, I'd be happy to have
to wear an ibutton or some such to achieve the same end...
